What is Follycon?
Follycon will be the 2018 Eastercon, the British National Science Fiction Convention, held over the four-day Easter weekend, 30 March – 2 April. Eastercon has been held over the Easter weekend each year since 1955, and it is a gathering place for science fiction fans from all around the UK and from elsewhere, too. The Follycon committee has deep and long-standing links with Eastercon’s tradition, and we will not neglect it, but we also plan to develop it further, with a thoughtful and interactive programme that will celebrate science fiction in all of its many forms. For the latest news, follow us on Twitter or Facebook, and find out more.
Join us – and join in!
Joining Follycon (please do!) isn’t just about buying a ticket for a fun weekend of sitting back and letting things happen. You’re buying a membership, and you’re joining a group where the members are working together to make the weekend a success. The committee, staff and programme participants are all unpaid volunteers. Even our Guests of Honour are unpaid. Whether it’s being a member of the organising committee, appearing on a programme item, or helping out for a couple of hours over the weekend, nearly half of an Eastercon’s members will volunteer in some way. If you would like to help, you can give details when you sign up as a member, or you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. See our volunteering page for more details.
The Follycon committee, and the convention as a whole, is committed to principles of inclusion and equality, and to a strong stand against harassment of any kind, and will implement those principles through our Code of Conduct.
